President Obama would use military force to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon if sanctions and diplomacy fail, according to Dennis Ross, Obama’s former special assistant on Iran. Ross’s comments came a day after Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and General Martin Dempsey both made comments saying that the development of a nuclear weapon would cross a red line. Ross, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, told Bloomberg “the Iranians should never think that there’s a reluctance to use the force [sic]” to stop them.
