At least two rockets have reportedly been launched from Gaza at Tel Aviv, one of Israel’s most populous cities, potentially marking an escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza militant groups. Though official reports suggest that the rockets landed outside the city, residents claim to have heard an explosion. The organization Islamic Jihad is claiming responsibility for the attack. To date, 15 Gazans and 3 Israelis have been killed in the violence.
Another rocket has purportedly hit the Tel Aviv suburb Holon. No casualties or damage have been reported.
Israeli spokesperson Ofir Gendelmen confirms that no rockets struck Tel Aviv proper.
