France’s Secretary of State today announced that France plans to vote in favor of Palestine gaining an upgraded status at the United Nations. The Palestinian Authority, despite pressure by the United States and Israel, has made clear that it intends to move forward with its effort to be recognized as an non-member observer state at the United Nations, putting it on the same footing as the Vatican at the U.N. The United Kingdom is currently considering whether it will support the Palestinian U.N. bid as well.
