Michigan State Employees Will Travel To NYC To Join Occupy Wall Street Protest

The Michigan Messenger reports that “state workers in Michigan are organizing a convoy to New York to join in the Occupy Wall Street protests.” A United Auto Workers official said “workers for the Depts. of Human Services, Community Health and Corrections and others will use their own cars and money to make the 600 mile drive from Lansing to New York City this weekend.” Nicole Jones, a Dept. of Corrections probation agent in Detroit, explained how spending cuts can have devastating effects: “If you cut people off and don’t give them the tools to do the jobs they are going to resort to violence, it increases domestic violence and child abuse.”
