Last night, more than two dozen Houston police surrounded protesters with Occupy Houston and warned them that they were violating laws against “possessing a tarp in a public park.” When the protesters refused to remove their tarp, police arrested six of them (three others were arrested for jaywalking and interfering for police but were soon released). “The City and Occupy Houston have a working relationship to allow protesters to exercise their first amendment rights without endangering public health or safety,” said Houston mayor Annise Parker, last week on her Facebook page, saying the city has no plans for a full eviction.
