"New Tumblr ‘We Are Journalists’ Allows Journalists To Tell Their Stories"

Poynter reports that, building off of the success of the “We Are The 99 Percent Tumblr,” a group of journalists from the St. Petersburg Times have created “We Are Journalists,” a new Tumblr for journalists to tell the stories of their profession and talk about why they are passionate about what they do.

“We are journalists. We are proud of what we do. We are tired of bad press about the press. We are trying to be ‘team players.’ We are terrified of more layoffs and paycuts. We would like to produce quality work without ‘obamasux99′ posting some non-sequitur rant at the end of it,” reads the Tumblr’s description. “We complain because we want things to be better. We would like some respect, plz. We are journalists.”

Here’s one sample entry from a journalism student who started his studies in Brazil. While working for a newspaper, he used his position “to write about power: policy, government issues and other stories – I think we need to tell people what’s going on in Latin America, the current issues and the cancer of corruption and abuses”:
