When New Jersey Gov. and union buster Chris Christie took the stage at an Iowa event for the former Massachusetts governor and GOP presidential primary candidate Mitt Romney, he thought he was probably walking into a fairly typical campaign stop.
But Occupy Des Moines proved him wrong. As Christie was on the stage speaking in favor of the candidate who most exemplifies the 1 percent, a cry of “Mic check!” rang out. “Mitt Romney and Chris Christie are the 1 percent!” yelled protesters. They then broke out into a chant of “put people first!” “You’re so angry, aren’t you,” Christie insolently replied, apparently not finding much empathy with those combating income inequality. Watch it:
“Soon they’ll be working at the Marriott around the corner,” Christie said after the demonstrators were removed, obviously not heeding their call to put people first.
