"The Golf Channel Fails Its MLK Anniversary Celebration"

Today is the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech, and people all across America are celebrating the important moment in American civil rights history by examining the progress we’ve made and how far we still have to go to fulfill that dream.

Then there’s The Golf Channel, which has since deleted this tweet:


The right answer, of course, is that a sport long affiliated with ultra-private, ultra-exclusionary country clubs that have made a habit out of prohibiting African-Americans, Jews, women, and every other non-white, non-male group of people from playing would finally start catching up to the rest of the world. But starting that conversation wasn’t the Golf Channel’s intention, so it should probably stay away from the tone-deaf tweets from now on.
