Fox’s Neil Cavuto: Epic Heat Wave Means We Should Drill For More Oil

By Brad Johnson, campaign manager of Forecast the Facts

On Fox Business Network this Tuesday evening, Neil Cavuto argued that we should respond to the deadly heat wave that is gripping the nation by drilling for more oil:

It is hot and I’m bothered. Nothing like a heat wave to burn my energy butt. This country is roasting, screaming for energy and we’re still blocking so much energy. We’ve got no drilling, just spending more green on green that invariably comes up red.

In fact, U.S. oil production is at its highest level in a decade!

Watch it:

“Climate science is in shambles,” claimed fellow FBN anchor David Asman, who has compared climate scientists to Hitler. “In fact, it’s been cool for the past couple of years.”

“The longer this [heat wave] drags on, the more the issue of climate change will be raised,” moaned Cavuto.

“A very very shaky science is being used to formulate public policy.” concluded Asnan. “Thank you, David ‘Brainiac’ Asman,” replied Cavuto, before turning to a “Fox Body Alert” on swimsuit model Kate Upton.

Another GOP House Candidate Signs On To Fox Biz’s ‘Scoreboard Pledge’ Policy Agenda

Last month, Fox Business host David Asman asked Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) — one of the GOP’s “Young Guns” — to sign on to his network’s policy agenda. “[We have] our own contract if you will,” Asman said, referring to the GOP’s 1994 “Contract with America.” It’s “No New Taxes, No New Bureaucrats, Cut Spending, Repeal Obamacare,” Asman noted, asking Ryan, “Would you be in favor of those?” “Absolutely,” Ryan said.

Republican House candidates Ben Quayle and Jon Runyun have also taken the so-called “Scoreboard Pledge.” Last night on Fox Business, Asman added another “pledge” to the list, “No New Regulations,” and got another GOP House candidate to sign on: Bobby Shilling from Illinois:

ASMAN: Once politicians get inside the beltway, they turn around and that’s why people are asking folks to sign pledges. We got our own series of pledges. … The Scoreboard Pledge includes No New Taxes, No New Regulations, No New Bureaucrats, Cut Spending, and Repeal ObamaCare. Are you good on all those points?

SHILLING: Yeah I’m good on all those points.

After Shilling went through a laundry list of other pledges he is personally making, Asman said, “It sounds like a revolution.” “Yeah, I think we do have a revolution going on here,” Shilling replied. Watch it:

“Asman’s on-air activism sounds similar to the pledges political organizations like Americans for Tax Reform ask politicians to sign-on to,” Media Matters’ Eric Hananoki has noted. “The good news is the Republicans actually have plans for the economy. The bad news is they copied them down as they were dictated by a guy on Fox,” MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann said remarking on Ryan’s pledge to Asman.

Paul Ryan Eagerly Signs Onto Right-Wing ‘Contract’ Created By The Fox Business Network

Yesterday, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) went on a media blitz to rebuff the assertion by Republican Leader Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) that Republicans could compromise and allow the Bush tax cuts for the very wealthy to expire. Appearing on Fox News’ America’s Nightly Scoreboard, a show on the Fox Business network, Ryan repeated his mantra that deficit-boosting tax cuts for the richest two percent are an unmovable plank in the GOP platform.

Fox Business host David Asman, agreeing with Ryan’s supply side fervor, then asked the Wisconsin lawmaker if he would sign onto Fox Business’ agenda. Then, Asman laid his own right-wing policy platform akin to the Republican Contract with America of 1994. Touting something called “The Scoreboard Pledge,” Asman asked Ryan if he would support the Fox Business political contract in Congress:

ASMAN: By the way, Scoreboard has its own list, our own contract if you will. The Scoreboard contract is “No New Taxes, No New Bureaucrats, Cut Spending, Repeal Obamacare.” Would you be in favor of those?

RYAN: Absolutely. And we not only would be in favor of these things, we will be in favor of these things.

Watch it:

What kind of “news” network creates its own political platform for candidates to sign onto? But Asman’s political activism is nothing new. Last year, he implored his viewers that they “need to” go to a Tea Party merchandise website.

After Ryan agreed to the Fox Business contract, Asman called on Ryan to run for Speaker himself should Republicans take the House of Representatives in November. Ryan politely declined.
