Just hours after Gov. Pat McCrory (R) signed a broad bill to massively restrict voting rights in North Carolina, localities moved to make it harder for students to vote -- moves enabled by the U.S. Supreme Court's June ruling gutting the Voting Rights Act.

Gov. Pat McCrory promised he wouldn't enact any new abortion restrictions in office. He broke that promise on Monday, when he signed a law that Planned Parenthood describes as "the most restrictive access to safe and legal abortions this state has ever seen."
"Gov. McCrory has proven he cannot be trusted," pro-choice activists say. "He has pledged to break his promise to North Carolina women and sign serious restrictions to safe and legal abortion care in North Carolina."
