Cyberball

Thanks to several commenters for giving me the answer to this morning’s robot football question — the game I was looking for was Cyberball. Apparently it was primarily known to many people as an Atari game or else as a freestanding arcade game, but Jaleco released a NES port in 1992 which is what I played.

Others brought up Mutant League Football in this regard. That is similar in various respects but, obviously, in the MLF you’re talking about mutant players rather than robots which makes all the difference.
