FBI Overstretch

An interesting New York Times account observes that the FBI is having been problems dealing with a wave of financial fraud cases thanks, in part, to its heavy post-9/11 focus on terrorism and counterintelligence missions.

But of course one sort of suspects that the Bush administration’s general disinclination to punish white collar crime has something to do with this as well. After all, they’ve always seemed able to find plenty of personnel to investigate bogus “voter fraud” allegations, persecute ACORN, etc.
