I found this old Collier’s magazine cover at Stange Maps:

I wonder how they thought the United States was going to get U.N. authorization for our war against Russia. I’m much more optimistic than most about the potential efficacy of international institutions, but this seems like something the Soviets would have vetoed. The odd circumstances around the Korean War, where the Soviet representative stormed out and thus was unable to prevent the U.N. from siding with South Korea, seems to have held too much sway over their thinking.
