A suppose the fact that the unemployment rate is now increasing at a slower pace is better than if it was increasing at a faster pace. But this is still pretty bad. And recall that whenever the economy starts growing again, it’s realistic to expect labor market conditions to continue to deteriorate for 6-12 months after that. It’ll be a long time before we’re back to full employment.
