Generally speaking, I think it’s wise of western leaders to tread lightly on the Iranian political crisis. But one point at which it does seem to me that intervention would be useful would be some forceful protest of the right restrictions under which foreign media have apparently been placed. Whether reporters for the BBC and New York Times and others are or are not allowed to leave their hotel rooms isn’t really an “internal” issue.
