Lists are always ridiculous, but Forbes’ effort to rank “the best cities for singles” seems unusually ridiculous to me. Salt Lake City, for example, ranks 39th out of 40. Terrible! But suppose you’re looking for a nice Mormon girl to settle down with and get married. I bet Salt Lake City would be a pretty good choice for someone like that.

That said, Dave Alpert wants it noted that the five top cities (NYC, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and DC) are all among the top seven most walkable cities (along with Philadelphia and San Francisco) according to WalkScore. It’s definitely always seemed to me that single people should be seeking out places where you can go out and get drunk and not get into a car wreck on your way home.
