General Vo Nguyen Giap

I discovered today on the interwebs that General Vo Nguyen Giap, principle commander of the First Indochina War and what in America we call the Vietnam War, is still alive at the age of 98. This led me to remark that someone should get him to speak at a DC COIN event since you have to assume that one of the most famous and successful practitioners of asymmetric warfare would have something smart to say on the subject.

Spencer Ackerman suggests this would be a good way for CNAS to try to outdo itself after last year’s conference featuring General David Petraeus. If nothing else, he could probably shed some light on the viability of waging war without PowerPoint.
