As a bicycle commuter who’s always reading stories about hopes for the always-just-around-the-corner viable electric car, I sometimes wonder why they don’t just make an electric bike. Bikes are small and light, and people generally don’t ride them all that far so a lot of the problems with electric cars would seem to melt away. Apparently, though, they’ve already got 120 million of them in China and they’re starting to take off in the US and Europe.
Also. The Grammies last night! Beyonce covering “You Oughtta Know” is an interesting idea, but I don’t think you can do that song unless you’re prepared to tempt censorship and actually deliver the “are you thinking of me when you fuck her?” line. The show was also the chance for me to learn of the existence of the Justin Bieber phenomenon:
