"Separated Busway Coming to NYC"
Very cool NYCDOT plan for a separated busway on 34th street:
Improved bus services are the lowest-hanging fruit of better mass transit in the United States. A single bus can fit as many people as a whole traffic lane full of cars, so if you’re talking about an urban route where there’s any plausible level of existing transit demand it makes a ton of sense to dedicate separated space to the bus. The problem is that we tend to engineer our roadways to maximize the vehicle traffic rather than the flow of people.
