These kinds of issues are leading Chinese authorities to get more serious about tackling pollution. Environmental laws have been on the books for years, but according to businesspeople here real action is something that’s only come in the past 18-24 months. But this is mostly about what we in the U.S. think of as yesterday’s environmental issues—the particulates that lead to smog—rather than the invisible greenhouse gases that people in the west worry about.
