"Another Housing Chart"

This one compares how many thousands of new people we’ve added in any given year to how many thousands of houses we’ve added:

The boom, while certainly big, was not unprecedented. In the past we’ve even had brief periods when the supply of houses increases faster than the supply of people. By contrast, we’ve never had a bust this big in terms of adding people faster than houses.
