Great piece in the New York Times about how the LAPD simultaneously got better at controlling crime even while shedding much of its reputation for brutality and racial discrimination.
One of the most overlooked aspects of political debates in DC is the obvious point that some public agencies perform better than others and it’s both possible and important to make the ones we have work better.
