"The Sources Of Privilege"
I don’t agree in every detail with the specifics of the argument present, but I think the slogan “Don’t Tax the Rich, Smash Their Privilege” has a lot of merit to it.
To offer a crude example, it wouldn’t have made a ton of sense to look at the United States as it existed in 1960, observe that redistributive taxation away from white people and toward black ones would be welfare enhancing, and then come away with an argument for race-linked taxation and redistribution. The underlying issue of unfair racial privilege deserved to be attacked directly. And by the same token, today we should always have an eye on the conservative nanny state and not just focus on taxes.
