AP ANALYSIS: Washington ‘On The Verge’ Of Having Enough Votes To Pass Marriage Equality

“The Washington state Legislature is on the verge of having enough support to approve gay marriage, with votes continuing to realign in the state Senate,” the Associated Press is reporting. Twenty-one state senators support the measure, while just 18 oppose it. “Five other Democrats say they are considering whether to support it, including two who are leaning in favor.” The bill will need 25 votes to pass the Senate and is widely expected to sail through the House. Sponsors tell the AP they are “50 percent optimistic” it will pass.
