At 9/11 Event, Rep. Allen West Slams ‘The Desire To Be A Multi-Cultural America’

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) is commemorating 9/11 by screening a virulently anti-Muslim documentary about the Park51 community center project in the Capitol building today. In the press conference kicking off the event, West blamed multiculturalism for making America vulnerable. “My fear is that maybe we could end up forgetting what happened on 9/11 because of political correctness or the desire to be a multi-cultural America,” he said.

One invited speaker declared, “We are at war with the Islamic culture. It’s not a religion, and we shouldn’t allow them to hide behind the fact that it’s a religion.” Later, West redefined Islam as well, claiming, “I call it a theocratic political construct ideology.” Later, West also redefined racial profiling. “As a former combat commander in Iraq, we call it trend analysis,” he said, prompting laughter from the crowd.

These remarks are in keeping with West’s past record, and with the Christian Action Network’s. The organization, which began as an anti-gay rights group in 1990, has targeted American Muslims since September 11.
