At an Obama campaign office in Sarasota, a woman asked Vice President Biden about supporting her daughter, who had been named Miss Trans New England. Biden responded that doing so was the “civil rights issue of our time.” The woman, Linda Carragher Bourne, told the press pool that “a lot of my friends are being killed, and they don’t have the civil rights yet. These guys are gonna make it happen.”
