Call for pitches: Economic Policy

Here’s what we’re looking for.

ThinkProgress is looking for freelance pitches on the real world impacts of economic policy on the everyday lives of Americans.

The decisions made by lawmakers on issues like tax credits, the minimum wage, health care mandates, or paid leave can mean a life of wealth and dignity for some and one of deprivation and hardship for others.

We want stories about the human side of these issues. Tell us about the importance of social safety net programs — like welfare, Medicaid, and social security — for struggling families. Show us how federal tax policy affects low-wage workers. Write about how land and housing policies impact vulnerable populations. Share a first-person account about your experience living on food stamps, living paycheck to paycheck, or seeking much-needed health care or an abortion.

There are also a lot of great things happening that we can’t cover. Tell us about the Fight for 15 near you, what your city or state is doing to close the wage gap, or any stories of workers who got a long overdue victory.
