CCA, Major For-Profit Prison Corporation, Picketed By Occupy Nashville’s ‘Human Auction’ Protest

On Monday afternoon, Occupy Nashville, one of the most vibrant Occupy movements in the South, staged an action outside of Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), one of the largest private prison companies in the nation. A ThinkProgress investigation last year found CCA — using conservative front groups like ALEC and tens of thousands in donations to state politicians — had a major role in guiding Arizona’s harsh anti-immigrant law, SB1070. The Occupy Nashville demonstrators picked the CCA building with a “human auction” to symbolize how the company profits off of human suffering.
