City Threatens To Evict Occupy Oakland

After 10 days camped out in Frank Ogawa Plaza, Occupy Oakland has received notice from the city that officials are planning to stop them from camping in the park overnight. “We believe that after 10 days, the City can no longer uphold public health and safety. In recent days, camp conditions and occupants’ behavior have significantly deteriorated, and it is no longer manageable to maintain a public health and safety plan,” says a notice on the city’s website. It is unclear when the city plans to move in to remove the overnight encampment.
