For all the political trouble Democrats are in, the latest WSJ/NBC poll indicates that they’re still more popular than the other major political party:
This is part of what makes the current panic so odd. The Democrats’ political position has deteriorated over the past six months, but they continue to have majorities in congress and to be the public’s preferred party. It’s hardly the worst pickle a political party has ever found itself in.
