President Donald Trump started his Saturday by escalating his feud with his attorney general Jeff Sessions.

“Jeff Sessions said he wouldn’t allow politics to influence him only because he doesn’t understand what is happening underneath his command position,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“Highly conflicted Bob Mueller and his gang of 17 Angry Dems are having a field day as real corruption goes untouched. No Collusion!”

Trump’s tweet comes days after he suggested he could fire Sessions, attacking the former Alabama senator for not investigating the White House’s political opponents.

Usually reticent to strike back, Sessions responded to the president’s criticism by saying “the actions of the Department of Justice will not be improperly influenced by political considerations.”

Though Trump’s displeasure with Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation has been simmering for over a year, the level of support shown by his former Senate colleagues had made replacing the attorney general seem unlikely.

That appears to be changing.

Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) suggested on Thursday that “moves are being made” to fire Sessions after November’s midterm elections. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who once vowed there would be “holy hell to pay” if Sessions was ever forced out, changed his tune on Thursday, which Trump acknowledged in a follow-up tweet.

“Every President deserves an Attorney General they have confidence in. I believe every President has a right to their Cabinet, these are not lifetime appointments. You serve at the pleasure of the President,” Trump wrote.

But the president of the United States’ ominous Twitter activity didn’t stop there, as he also threatened to “get involved” with the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton.

“Big story out that the FBI ignored tens of thousands of Crooked Hillary Emails, many of which are REALLY BAD,” he tweeted. “Also gave false election info. I feel sure that we will soon be getting to the bottom of all of this corruption. At some point I may have to get involved!”

Trump provided no evidence for his claim.
