MANCHESTER, NH — At Donald Trump’s final rally before Tuesday’s first-in-the-nation primary in New Hampshire, Trump shocked the hundreds gathered in Manchester’s Verizon arena by repeating a vulgar insult he heard someone shout out from the crowd.

When discussing his position on torture, saying he favors the U.S. using waterboarding “and worse” on detainees, Trump slammed rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for refusing to also endorse these unconstitutional interrogation methods.

A woman in the crowd screamed out, “He’s a pussy!” Trump first asked her to repeat herself, then pretended to scold her, noting the presence of the press corp, before repeating her words into the microphone.

Watch:

“She just said a terrible thing,” Trump said, grinning. “You know what she said? Shout it out because I don’t want to — OK, you’re not allowed to say, and I never expect to hear that from you again. She said — I never expect to hear that from you again! — she said he’s a pussy. That’s terrible. Terrible,” Trump said. The crowd cheered wildly, some beginning to chant, “Pussy, pussy, pussy.”

Cruz, it should be noted, has an extremely hawkish national security platform that involves the war crime of carpet bombing ISIS-held regions of Iraq and Syria.

Trump has publicly used vulgar slurs in previous campaign appearances and interviews, telling crowds Hillary Clinton has been shlonged, and saying journalist Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever” after Kelly asked him during a debate about sexist remarks he has made in the past.

Yet for many of his supporters in New Hampshire and across the country, Trump’s complete lack of propriety is a large part of his appeal. “I like Trump because he tells it like it is. He doesn’t mince words,” New Hampshire resident Debra Keller told ThinkProgress before the rally. “We need someone like that to stand up for our country.”
