Edie Windsor On DOMA Victory: ‘Okay, Honey, We Did It’

When Edie Windsor first filed suit against the Defense of Marriage Act, it was for the money. Because her marriage was not recognized by the federal government, she had to pay a sizable estate tax when she inherited the property of her late wife Thea Spyer. But as Windsor’s case advanced, she quickly became a hero of the LGBT community, exemplified by her victory this week. In the following video, she thanks the many people who have supported her and looks to the love of her life and simply says, “Okay, honey, we did it”:
