By this point in 2007, there were already fourteen presidential candidates. Thus far, we still have zero exploratory committees, though everyone assumes Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty will get in it.

My working hypothesis continues to be this: I have no idea why anyone would ever tout John Thune as a Presidential candidate, and yet I have heard conservatives tout Thune as a Presidential candidate, and this is probably because the Conintern has somehow anointed him.
