Former Charlotte Republican And Democratic Mayors Offer Opposition To Amendment One

Two former mayors of Charlotte have come out against North Carolina’s discriminatory Amendment One. Republican Richard Vinroot and Democrat Harvey Gantt sat down together to spell out exactly why the measure, which bans same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships, threatens all the state’s unmarried couples. Vinroot, the first prominent Republican in the state to speak out against the amendment, points out, “If you vote against it, it won’t harm anybody.” Watch it:
