Gay Couple Sues Catholic Church For Discrimination In Property Sales

A gay couple in Massachusetts is suing the Catholic Church for discrimination after a church representative allegedly refused to sell them a house “because of the potentiality of gay marriages there.” James Fairbanks and Alain Beret filed the suit on Monday, claiming that they were close to purchasing a mansion, named Oakhurst, when the church suddenly pulled out of the negotiations. An email accidentally sent to the couple’s broker revealed that they were “not interested in going forward with these buyers” because they might host a same-sex wedding. The Church argues that Fairbanks and Beret were unable to finance the purchase.
