Gay NFL Player Regrets Not Coming Out Sooner: ‘I Now Undertand The Impact That Would Have Had’

Openly-gay former football player Wade Davis told CNN Wednesday morning that he should have come out as gay while playing professionally in the NFL, saying, “If I could do it all over again, I would come out while I was playing. I now understand the impact that would have had.” Davis, who now works for a nonprofit focusing on LGBT youth, also noted that he deserves an acting ‘Oscar’ for juggling his personal life while remaining closeted among his fellow teammates. “I don’t believe most NFL players have a problem with having a gay teammate.
