Gov. Chris Christie: PBS ‘Should Have Ended With The Soviet Union’

On Monday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) spoke to reporters about his plan to sell off the state’s public broadcasting stations. “It also meets our goal of making sure government is out of the broadcasting business. In my view that should have ended with the Soviet Union,” he said. Christie added: “It’s ending here in New Jersey a little later than the fall of the wall in Berlin, but we’re getting there.” Perhaps Christie is unaware that post-Cold War Germany has the largest public broadcasting system in the world. MyFoxPhilly.com reported that about 130 jobs will be lost if lawmakers approve the plan.
