Thanks to everyone who takes the time to read ThinkProgress.org. Although it’s been in existence for less than a year, ThinkProgress is currently ranked #17 out of 22.3 million blogs by Technorati.com.
Above all else, ThinkProgress is a research blog. We want to provide you with factual information and analysis you can’t find anywhere else. And we want to get you that information as rapidly as possible. With your help we plan on making the following changes so ThinkProgress can be even better:
1. Make ThinkProgress a tool for collaborative research. We’d like the comments section to become a place where readers expand on the research in the posts. Ideally, the threads will be a place to find more examples, sources and arguments. As you may have noticed, we’ve recently added HTML tools to the comment window. This will allow you to format your comments just like we format the posts — with links, blockquotes, bolding and italics. We’ll promote the best comments as updates to the main post.
2. Improve the quality of the discourse on ThinkProgress. Debate is welcome on this blog. It’s not a place, however, simply to hurl insults at other people. Arguments should be focused on the substance. Commenters who repeatedly use threads to personally attack others will be banned.
If you have any questions or comments about these new policies, feel free to leave them in the comments section or contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
