House Votes Down Defense Bill Amendment To Make War Theatre Living Quarters More Energy Efficient

Today, the House had debated a series of amendments to a defense appropriations bill. This afternoon, the House voted 174–251 to kill an amendment by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) that would’ve redirected $15 million from Overseas Contingency Operations funds to spend on insulating tents to make them more energy efficient. This comes at a time when a recent study found that U.S. wars cost $20 billion a year on air conditioning alone.
