For many in the media, Trump’s Twitter feed is a daily, if not hourly web search. The president has tweeted more than 3,000 times since his inauguration, while simultaneously refusing to hold a press conference for over 450 days. Trump claims that his Twitter allows him to speak directly to the American people, without the “fake news” media distorting his words.

But a recently published poll from Gallup proves the opposite. While 76 percent of Americans say they hear about Trump tweets, only four percent of Americans actually follow Trump on Twitter and see his tweets as he posts them. For 69 percent of Americans, they only see Trump’s tweets through a secondary source, like the mainstream media that Trump loves to hate.

What would happen if the media stopped publicizing every Trump tweet?
