After TMZ released audio of a man it says is Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling making racist comments about not wanting black people attending his games, there was talk about whether the team’s players should boycott Sunday’s playoff game against the Golden State Warriors.
The Clippers ultimately decided to play, but not without protest. Before the game, Clippers players removed their warm-up shirts and piled them at the middle of the court in a symbolic show of unity:
The Clippers also turned their shooting shirts inside-out during warm-ups so that “Clippers” wasn’t visible:
Golden State’s fans got in on the action too:
ABC sideline reporter Lisa Salters reported during the game’s opening minutes that Clippers point guard Chris Paul told her that the team had discussed not playing Sunday’s game but decided to stage the protest instead.
