Interior Department Approves First-Ever Solar Project On Public Lands In Arizona

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced the approval of the Sonoran Solar Energy Project in Maricopa County, Arizona. The 300-megawatt project would power almost 70,000 homes , will create 374 jobs, and is supported by national and state environmental groups. In November, CAP Senior Fellow Tom Kenworthy outlined the key components of what a solar energy program on public lands should look like.
