Jobless Rate Drops For Iraq And Afghanistan Vets

USA Today reports that according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the jobless rate for Iraq and Afghanistan war era veterans dropped to an annual average of 9.9 percent last year, down from 12.1 percent in 2011. “It looks like it peaked in 2011 and has since been coming down,” says James Borbely, a BLS economist who studies veteran data. “We’re looking at a rate that has clearly improved.” “We’ve got more miles to go. But it’s clear we’re marching in the right direction,” said one Veterans Affairs Department official.
