Judge Rejects Electrolysis For Transgender Inmate

Judge Mark Wolf has rejected Michelle Kosilek’s request for additional electrolysis treatments for her transition, ruling that it would have to be part of a new case. Kosilek is serving time for murdering her wife in 1990 but is struggling to get the appropriate medical care in jail for her gender transition. Wolf ruled earlier this year that Kosilek is deserving of sex-reassignment surgery for her condition, but clarified in this latest ruling that she must wait while the state of Massachusetts’ appeal against the procedure is considered.
