Loaded Gun Found In Toy Aisle At Target

A real gun was found in the toy aisle of a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Target, WMBF is reporting.

A loss prevention worker came upon the gun Friday night after mistaking it for a toy. The gun was sitting on top of a superhero Playskool toy box in “plain view,” according to WMBF.

Reports that the gun was found emerged after so-called “open-carry gun activiststook photos of themselves donning rifles in Target stores in Dallas. In response, advocacy group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America ramped up its campaign to have open carry banned in Target stores. Moms Demand Action says its petition has already garnered 25,000 signatures.

In the past few weeks, other companies including Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. and Starbucks Coffee Company have implemented policies to limit guns in their stores after Moms Demand Action blasted similar demonstrations elsewhere.

Even the National Rifle Association initially opposed these “open carry” activists, calling the demonstration “weird” and “scary.” But NRA chief lobbyist Chris Cox backed off that position just days later, saying “Our policy is that we support open carry.”

Several other stores have instituted blanket gun bans, including Whole Foods, Toys R Us, and Disney World.
