Michigan Senate Committee To Consider Controversial Anti-Abortion Bill

The Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider a radical anti-abortion bill today. In June, the GOP-led House approved the omnibus bill, which would regulate clinics out of existence and turn doctors into detectives. Committee Chairman Rick Jones (R) said the committee will hear testimony and vote on the measure. But the full Senate does not reconvene until August 15, so that is the earliest the chamber could vote on the bill. After the House passed it, male Republican leaders punished two female Democrats for speaking out against the legislation by banning them from speaking on the House floor for a day.
