A new ad released by the Republican National Committee is attacking the left by claiming that liberals have become “unhinged.”
The ad, released on Tuesday, prominently features the solitary limousine that was set on fire during Trump’s inauguration, along with graffiti and a voiceover from Bernie Sanders declaring how “fringe ideas, radical ideas and extremist ideas” are now more mainstream.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is featured in the minute-long video, talking about how it was important for voters to push back against members of the Trump administration if they see them out and about. Trump critics Samantha Bee and Kathy Griffin also make an appearance, along with some Hollywood celebrities.

As backlash to the Trump administration’s family separation policy grows, and protesters are confronting Trump officials in public, Republicans have sought to deflect the attention by painting the left as increasingly radical and dangerous.
In a speech on Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions talked about how “radicalized” liberals’ views on immigration had become. “We hear views on television today that are on the lunatic fringe, frankly,” Sessions said. “These same people live in gated communities, many of them, and are featured at events where you have to have an ID to even come in and hear them speak.”
Never mind that the attorney general’s hardline immigration policy of separating children from their families has led to children trying to commit suicide. For Sessions, it’s clearly a step too far for elected officials to face accountability for their actions in public.

Conservative hysteria over “unhinged” Democrats was also seen on NRATV, where host Grant Stinchfield was aghast that protesters had the cheek to confront Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, after they left a dinner at Georgetown University on Tuesday night.
“They are violent, this is proof, the rhetoric has been upped, I’m frightened for anyone out there who speaks up about this,” Stinchfield said. “These violent, socialist intimidators, they should be jailed too.”
NRATV also made sure to mention how terrified it was of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 28-year-old self-described socialist who defeated incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in a historic primary upset on Tuesday.
“Left wing socialists have infiltrated our nation and want to fundamentally change the country we love,” Stinchfield said. “The number of people who believe in her insane plans for America are prolific.”
Of course, the hand-wringing about “civility” naturally ignores some pretty big blunders from the Republican side of the aisle — like, for instance, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) refusing to apologize for retweeting a neo-Nazi. Or Republican candidates running campaign ads where they literally shoot legislation they don’t like, and promise to “round up illegals” in their pick-up trucks. Or blaming “both sides” for the death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville during last year’s “Unite the Right” rally.
Republicans should rest easy, though, as brave patriotic Americans stand by ready to defend them from the “unhinged” Democrats. Take the Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia, the restaurant that set off the “civility” debate by asking Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave. On Tuesday, a man was arrested after yelling “Make America Great again” and throwing chicken dung at the restaurant.
Take that, libs.
