‘Occupy X’ Is Now A Banned Search Term In China’s Major Microblogging Site

As ThinkProgress noted last week, Chinese officials are cracking down on Occupy Wall Street coverage, most likely fearing that the unrest of the 99 Percent Movement could spread to their country. Now, China Digital Times is reporting that Sina Weibo, China’s major microblogging site, is banning the search term “occupy” when it is combined with the name of a region or city, such as Occupy Shanghai.
