Kevin Drum flags this from a pool report:

To repeat, I’ve heard a lot of conservative crowing over the past month from conservatives about the idea that Barack Obama is backing away from his pledge for strategic redeployment from Iraq. Max Boot, for example, asserted that Robert Gates staying on at the Pentagon “all but puts an end to the 16-month timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.” Obama seems to feel otherwise. And he’s the president.
